Our mission is to create pathways to housing stability, independence, and opportunity for individuals and families experiencing transition.
Higher Learning Foundation works to connect people with safe housing, community resources, supportive services, and opportunities that help them move forward with dignity and purpose.

We envision communities where every person has access to the stability, resources, and opportunities necessary to build a productive and self sufficient future.
Our long term vision is to help create stronger communities by addressing housing instability while connecting residents to the resources that support independence and long term success.
A person's circumstances should not determine the limits of their future.
Too many young adults, individuals, and families experience periods when one unexpected circumstance can lead to housing instability. For young adults transitioning from foster care, individuals rebuilding their lives, and families facing difficult transitions, stable housing can be the difference between continued instability and an opportunity to move forward. Higher Learning Foundation exists to help bridge that gap. We believe meaningful change begins by addressing one of life's most fundamental needs, a safe and stable place to live.

Darren Wingate
Higher Learning Foundation was founded by entrepreneur, real estate developer, and community advocate Darren Wingate with a belief that business, development, and community relationships can be used to create meaningful opportunities for others.
Darren's journey through entrepreneurship, real estate, community development, and fatherhood shaped his understanding of how important stability, opportunity, mentorship, and access to resources can be in changing the direction of someone's life.
Rather than simply identifying problems within underserved communities, Darren wanted to help build solutions. That vision became Higher Learning Foundation.
Through the Foundation, Darren works alongside community leaders, organizations, housing professionals, businesses, and supporters who share a common goal, helping people establish stability today while creating opportunities for tomorrow.
